The Guardian forecasts “partly sunny” business for summer travel this year, compared to the blockbuster crowd of 2007. In other words, it means optimistic. In spite of the recession, 45% Americans took a vacation in summer 2012 and over 12 million went on cruises. While the travel industry is slowly and steadily recovering from the Great Recession, locally owned and operated travel businesses in the USA could be badly hit when it comes to capturing online dollars. SMB DigitalScape study of the month shows 84% of them do not have a website. A large percentage of those that have one have a very basic presence. Vacationers researching on the desktops or mobiles may not find them or be able to contact them. Read the month’s infographic from vSplash to find out how much revenue opportunity is hidden in bringing to speed the digital presence of local travel businesses.
